We always need help!
Below is a list of volunteer opportunities that we can always use help with. If you decide you would like to volunteer (and we hope you do!) please submit a Volunteer Wavier and we will contact you. Thanks!
Event Volunteer (puppy pen, adult dog, set up, clean up)
Our weekend adoption events are a great opportunity for the community to come out and meet our rescue pups in person! We can always use volunteer advocates to monitor the puppy pen or hold the leash of an adult dog and answer questions about them. Two times per year we have fundraising events that require all hands on deck! Set up, break down, puppy pen, adult dog advocate, food service etc. These events are crucial to our ability to provide financially for our critical care pups and we need all the help we can get to make them run smoothly!
Think dog rescue is all about just working with the dogs? Definitely not! The administration side of the rescue ensures that we run smoothly and efficiently! If you have skills in accounting, social media, customer service (for reviewing applications and making phone calls), graphic design, email response, asset management, vetting management and so much more we can use your help!! All of our admin responsibilities are accomplished online so working from home is the way we roll! Join our admin team and put your business skills to good use in a volunteer capacity. Together we can save so many lives!
When you choose to foster a dog in need you are changing a life! Visit our Foster Information Page to learn more about how you can make a difference by choosing to foster.
During the summer, many of our amazing foster families have vacation plans and need temporary help with their foster pup. This is a great opportunity to jump into the foster ring for a defined period of time to help out another foster! Everything you need will be provided for you – you just provide the love! Fill out a foster application Here and we will include you in our vacation foster list!
Rescue Dog Photographer
Have a knack for photography? Want to apply your skills to help rescue dogs find their forever homes? Consider volunteering your time to take pictures of our awesome rescue dogs! Good quality pictures help dogs find their forever homes faster!
SCDR does not have a facility. All of our dogs are in foster care! We often need help transporting dogs from the shelter to a foster home, to and from the vet, or from one foster to another. We also need help delivering food and supplies to existing fosters. If you enjoy driving and wouldn’t mind having a passenger or two, fill out a volunteer waiver and join our Volunteers Facebook page for transport opportunities!
Fundraising and Grant Writing
Do you have fundraising/development experience? We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic and passionate about helping homeless dogs to help us raise money by pursuing and obtaining funds from foundations, corporations, individuals and government sources by grant writing, annual appeals, events and strategic campaigns.
